About me and my practice

Joanna is a registered Integrative Counsellor who specialises in mental health and wellbeing. Currently working in her own private practice since the Pandemic is well versed in online therapy and ensuring that the client has a good experience of this way of therapeutically working.
Joanna has previously worked in the National Health Service for a 20 year period and has spent this part of her career in various mental health establishments from forensics to open wards. Joanna has a good understanding of mental health diagnosis and also how the system works to support their clients and is enthusiastic to work with those who feel that they need the support when the system is not available to them.
Joanna has been able to bring her skills and knowledge gained from working in the NHS in to the private sector and so has a specialist approach to the therapeutic work that can be brought by the client.
Continual professional development is important for Joanna, in 2017 she completed a Diploma in Mental Health Science to deepen her knowledge and understanding of mental health issues and the effects it has on society as well as individuals. Currently Joanna is near completing the level 5 in Psychotherapeutic Counselling which has allowed for a deepening understanding of therapeutic and personal processes.
In other areas of Joanna's career she works as a specialist mental health mentor and works with both under and post graduates to maximise their mental well being for their duration at University. This is a very rewarding experience and allows a real sense of continuity of work with the student both academically and therapeutically.
